You Have To Read It!

Our class is making a book trailer. It”s like a movie trailer but with a book instead. I thought it was really fun. I picked this book because it looked interesting and funny. I guess I was right, it was and had some mysteries. I am making this book trailer  for grade 2′s.  If you read the book it will have you laughing until it’s over. It won’t take you  very long to read. Let me know what you thought of it.

Save Energy

LIGHT OFF EARTH ONThis year for Earth Hour my family was all in the living room and we told stories and had some homemade cookies. My little sister got scared because my mom told her that there was a bloody hand going to come after and she started crying.

We used candles during earth hour because they aren’t a part of electricity. Our other sisters went for a walk outside with our dog. My sister Erica wanted to listen to music but my mom said no because it is part of electricity. My mom said we should do this every night to not waste power and it would be fun.

Some people didn’t even know it was happeing until it was the end of earth hour. We have earth hour so we teach people to not waste power. We don’t need all of that energy and power.  Some people don’t even have power. Some of the power  suckers we can remember to  turn off are computers, music, T.V.s and other light bulbs. Did you participate in earth hour this year?

Getting into the Challenge Tracking Your Digital Footprint!

facebook, youtube and twitter                                                       This week it is challenge two. A Digital Dossier is an accumulation of all the digital tracks you leave behind in your life.  I am registered on Facebook, Hotmail and Edublogs. My mom buys some items on the internet from  Craigslist and she sells things on there too. Our class has a video on the class blog of what a Digital Dossier is about.  When I register for all of the sites I am on, I write a little bit of  information that I need to fill out. The information I have to give. I set on my privacy settings so that I am not sharing that information. What kind of footprint are you leaving behind?

Be Aware When Using The Internet!

INTERNETOur class is learning about being internet savvy which means being aware on the Internet.

February 9th was Safer Internet Day. It’s a day to help kids and adults learn to be responsible when working online. I think it is good to know about being internet savvy because if you aren’t, something unsafe could happen.

Here are some ideas to keep you safe when you are online. Do not take pictures of yourself that are embarrassing on your camera, mp3, phone or Ipod because if you press SEND it could go all around the world and anybody can see it.Taking a picture of someone doing something embarrassing and putting it  online could change their life in a bad way for a really long time.

You shouldn’t put your personal information such as phone numbers, addresses and birthdays on the internet.dy should be aware online and be safe and savvy.

Are you going to be internet savvy?

STOP BULLYING!

at least i'm not a bully                                                                               In 2007 in Nova Scotia a grade 9 boy got bullied just because  he wore a pink shirt. The next day hundreds of students from his school showed up wearing a pink shirt, and even some dressed in pink from head to toe. The bullies stopped bullying him once they saw the whole school wearing pink.

On February 23 you are encouraged to wear pink for Anti Bullying Day. If I saw someone getting bullied I would tell them to stop. If  they didn’t I would get help or if no one helped I would call the police. If it was in the school I would get a teacher and tell them someone is getting bullied. I don’t think anyone should get bullied just because how you look or dress. I hope people wear pink on February 23 in support of Anti Bullying Day. I will be.

The Fun Week On Mt.Washington

mt.washington alpine resort                                        The first week  of January I went to Mt. Washington and I missed school for a whole week. Now I can’t stop thinking of  Mt.Washington. When I was up there, I downhill skiied.I thought it was going to be fun and  I was right.

When I first got there I was so scared but then  I met my instructors  and I wasn’t scared anymore all because of them. They made my week a lot more fun.  People  know that we are learning how to snowboard or ski because we have to wear a orange vest. I was so proud of myself after I went speeding down the hill. We also had a race there too. We had to guess how long it was going to take you to go down the hill and my guess was 50 seconds but I think I beat that. I went speeding down the hill and almost cut through my instructer that was in front of me. I was really proud of myself.

We went on the green chair lift and skiied down a steep hill.  Once I got up there I was so scared and saying ” I can’t do it”.  Then I did it and now I can go speeding down with out falling. After we got down the hill we went on to the Hawk Chair which leads to the second biggest hill. The Hawk Chair can carry 6 people on one chair and it goes a lot faster then the green chair because the green chair makes stops to let people on the . I really like going on the Hawk because it is so much fun except for the bumps. There are a lot of bumps on the Hawk but they are fun on the straight part. When my instructor asks do you want to go inside or go down the Hawk and I always say the Hawk.

My favourite instructor Christa left on Thursday because she had to go to her other job coaching gymnastics. I really missed her, she was really nice and fun. By Friday there was only one instructor left named Laura. That was ok for me because I became a really good skiier.

Jackson Pollock Art

chevy_jpollock                                                                                                  Our class is learning about the artist Jackson Pollock from the 1900′s.  Jackson Pollock used different kinds of tools and materials such as glass, sand and strings. He used sticks for spreading the paint and he also dripped, splattered and sprayed on his art. He did his paintings outside on the ground. He smoked when he was painting. I didn’t know you could make a lot of money by splattering paint on paper.

We learned about the seven elements in class. They are: lines, space, texture, shade, colour, form and value. In his painting I see lines that are curved, swirly, straight, thick, thin and different widths and lengths. In his art there is a lot of  different colours and there is dark as well as light. There is a lot of texture in his paintings because he uses lots of layers of paint.

3  differences between my painting and his painting is I did mine on the computer and he did his on actual paper and canvases. I didn’t get to pick my own colours but he did.  I didn’t use a paintbrush, I had to use my mouse from the computer.

3 similarities between my painting and his were we both had the same style, we both used colour and they both had lines.

What I think about his art I think it is really creative and cool looking. I saw a very similar painting at an art show  last summer. It was just splattered paint everywhere and it looked excactly the same.

Would you like to paint like him?

I Can Not Wait Until Christmas

happy christmas everybody                                                   This year I can not wait until Christmas. I am   inferencing that this Christmas will be fun. I know it will be  because it is always fun.  The great part of Christmas day is getting up early before everybody else, eating snacks, opening stockings and opening presents. The things I really want this year are an Ipod or a camera. I don’t think I will get an Ipod so I will keep my fingers crossed for the camera. Last year I got a lot of things for Christmas . The best present was a trip to Hawaii. I hope you get what you want for Christmas.

Have you ever had a trip given to you as a present?

My Story Of My Second Year Blogging!

one laptop per child  I am blogging again this year because it  helps us with our writing  and computer skills. Also we can talk to other people around the world. This is my second year blogging and I am starting to like it.  Last year I didn’t really like blogging because we did a lot of commenting and writing assigned posts. The things I really like about blogging are  watching videos, writing choice posts, finding pictures for my posts, looking at other peoples blogs around the world and looking at peoples blogs in my classroom. I hope I get too keep my blog when I go too high school. If I don’t  then I would miss blogging with my classmates and the teachers.  I hope our class will enjoy blogging this year.
